Skunny chickens

Welcome to BYC! :frow

What type (breed) of chickens do you have? How old are they? Do you have actual weights?

Consider laying off the scratch and using something with more protein.. a starter or flock raiser with 20% protein and oyster shell, free choice on the side.

I have barnyard chickens , acouple bardrock . Their 1 to 3 years in age. I do not have actual weight but when picking some of them up they don't weigh much at all.

Usually chickens will eat to meet their energy needs. If feed is available free choice.. It's possible they could have a worm load impacting their weight. Have you ever wormed them?

The easiest way to get a weight on a chicken is to use a bathroom scale. Weigh yourself, then step on the scale holding the chicken and get a weight. Subtract the the weight of yourself from the weight of you holding the chicken and that difference is the chicken's weight. It won't get down into the ounces but it will give you a ballpark that is pretty close.
