Sleep apnea or something else in baby chick?

So my 6 week old silver laced wyndotte is vaccinated. We got her and her chick mates last week and they all had lice so we treated them a couple days ago. BEFORE and after the treatment, I've noticed that she makes this odd breathing movement as if gasping with a click sound ONLY when she is sleeping. She and her chick mates are perfectly healthy and every way, but I was wondering if this is something to be concerned for? All of them run around, chip happily, and fly in/out of their brooder when it's play time with no issues seen. I have VetRx and can treat if y'all think it's a respiratory illness, irritation from the lice, or mechanical issue. I've attached a video of this little cutie falling asleep with the breathing I'm talking about. I just am looking to find out what we think is going on.

Thank you!

Hiya, and welcome to BYC! :frow

To attach a video, one way is to first post it on YouTube, then paste the link back to here.

Did you use Permethrin powder or some powder that she breathed in? I know you said she had it before this, but just wondering if that's exacerbating it. Lice can cause allergy issues so maybe they had something to do with it too.

VetRX is like human Vicks. It can be used to help them breath better. You can put a drop or two under each wing, then on her head above her beak but not in her nostrils. Some put it in their water too but I'd put vitamins in the water then too. We use Poultry Cell or Nutra-Drench. Vitamins could help if she's fighting some respiratory thing.

We used diluted liquid permethrin 10%. It worked great but I wasn't sure if the fumes agitated it or what. I'll start using the VetRx on her as she was doing it before the treatment too. I noticed it the second day we got her so I did vitamins with garlic in their water but what throws me off is she only does it when sleeping. Her breathing throughout the day is completely normal. She even runs, flies, and plays without issues.

And thank you for the video tip! I'll try to upload it tomorrow

Maybe it's some genetic thing she'll just outgrow as if it was a respiratory infection, she wouldn't be fine during the day and just have symptoms at night. I'm glad she does so well during the day as that's reassuring it's probably nothing serious or to worry about.

Thank you! That's a relief to hear
