Keeping slugs as pets is rare. Very rare. Yet so fun!

Yes, they can be slimy pests but only in the wrong conditions.
They are simple to take care of and trust me, there's way weirder pets.
First slugs cannot bite. Second all they need is a simple pickle jar as a home.
Third you own everything to take care of them.

Normal garden slugs are the best pets. Banana slugs are good too, but first research what kind of slug yours is before you keep it as a pet. To find a slug, look under wet things or leaf litter.
Then make your jar.
Take a large pickle jar and spray the inside with a mister. Then, poke holes in the lid with a screwdriver. Then, put lettuce, spinach, cabbage and other greens inside.
Don't put in mint, or most rich tasting leafs.
Half rotten tree leafs work too.
Then spray again. Make sure you have a LOT of leafs in there.
Then put your slug in and spray the jar once a day or every second day.
Slugs are truly amazing pets!

And some tips for keeping slugs:
Never put two slugs in the same jar. Slugs are unisexual and can produce thousands of baby slugs.
Also, they die after mating.
Slugs breathe through their sides so do not cover their sides.
Slugs also poop through their sides so don't be worried if you see poop on them.

Nice info! I've never thought of keeping slugs as pets but I'm sure I would have loved to do it if I was younger! I've had apple snails before and thought they were a lot of fun.

When I was a kid, a teacher let us students keeps meal worms until they grew into adult beetles and then we had beetle races! What fun that was. I ended up convincing my mom to let me get some to have at home. They were simple fun critters to keep.
