Hey just wondering if anyone knows what kind of duck this is. I would say Pekin but he is really small only slightly bigger than the wild mallards. In the process of trying to rescue him right now as he is white and this pond is full of gators.

He is in this video

Ah okay yeah white layer makes sense he is only like half the size of other Pekins I've seen. I was just at that pond yesterday and he was not there so it must have been dumped today. I went after him with my kayak trying to get him on the land but he dipped into a island of very tall grass and I couldn't find him in there. Found many other ducks in there while looking for him though so it should be a pretty safe place for him to spend the night. I'll head back tomorrow to see if I can wrangle him it sucks because I was SO close I managed to touch him but he just barely escaped my fingers. Lots of gators in that pond so with him being all white I can't imagine him lasting more than a few days.

I'm sure it's very improbable, but is there any possibility it's an albino mallard? He really was almost the exact same size as the mallards but rhey flew away and he seems to not be able to fly

Honestly, I don’t think this is a Pekin or a White Layer. Much too small and wrong shape for either breed. I have seen people discuss White Mallards / show photos of them..
Maybe also a Call or Call mix??

I wish you great luck in catching the guy :hugs

Yeah I thought so too I've definirely never seen a white duck so small I tried looking into white mallards but the information about them on the internet seems extremely limited, but this duck really did look incredibly similar in size and shape to the mallards near it, and the few pics i have seen online that claim to be white mallards look exactly like him. He was hanging out near a group of 2 mallards when I showed up but when I was trying to grab him both of them flew off and he ran away into the water so I don't think he was with them he definirely would have flown away from me if he could have. Definitely want to make 100% sure that he isn't a wild duck before ducknapping him

Any luck today in catching this duck? I thought Call but since it didn't fly maybe not.

I went back again tonight but he is very elusive, I got very wet and muddy and he still escaped me into the tall grass way too thick for me to chase him into. I'm gonna go with my dad tomorrow and hopefully we can get him with 2 people I know I'll be able to get him if I can just get him away from the water I almost had him today but he outsmarted me with a bold move of running right past me into the water barely missed him. Definitely not a call duck, I'm really thinking the answer is white mallard I can only find a few pics of them online but it really is exactly what he looks like. He is very small much closer to the size of a call duck than a Pekin and when he is next to the wild mallards they really do look identical in terms of size, shape, and proportions, he is just a different color.

I can't help but think he would make some absolutely beautiful mule duck babies with my scovy girls makes me wish I had room for more ducks.

Wonder why he isn't flying? Mallards are great fliers
