Hello!
I recently received a few new baby chicks, but one is significantly smaller than the others. The first two I had where so much bigger and I’m worried.
It behaves just fine. Energetic, loud, and poops as much as any chick does. At first, she wasn’t drinking so I mixed warm water with her food and she began drinking it through that method. She naps quite a bit but nothing abnormal from my first batch. She’s just super small! Stayed the same size for two days going on three!
I don’t know if I should be worried or not? Do I need to do anything to boost her strength? She’s not adherently weak, a little wobbly, but jumps and runs around like every other chick.
Just today I put her on that sav-A-chick probiotic and electrolytes.
Shes a silver laced wyandotte

There can be runts in any species. I once raised 50 freedom rangers and one, a cockerel, was always half the size of his siblings, even the pullets. He was perfectly healthy and active, he was just a dwarf. But he tasted just like chicken. Growing up, I've seen dwarfism in cattle.
IMO, if one has perfect uniformity in their birds, that is a truly remarkable thing.
As Greenfire Farms states on their Terms and Conditions, "Just as every child is not destined to become a supermodel, every bird is not destined to win ribbons at shows. Only a tiny fraction of chickens conform to their breed standard in all respects."
