I was feeding the chickens and kept hearing the electric fence shorting out. I looked over and there was a snake in the fence. He had apparently eaten a mouse or something (no chicks missing) and tried to go through 1" chick wire which is along the bottom of my chain link, next to the two wire electric fence. He couldn't pull through the fence and ended up wrapped around the electric fence twice and then back and forth through the chain link. I'm not sure, I think the short to ground may have been coming off his tail. He was still alive. I felt sorry for him. But that didn't stop me from taking a few pictures. I turned off the fence. He was still there when I left, I don't know if he'll survive or not, but if he gets out, he's got one more chance, next time he's target practice. Just couldn't bring myself to take advantage of the situation. Now if it had been a rattler, it would have been a different story.

Poor thing.

I am not adverse to killing things when I need to but I will stomp on a bug twice to make sure it doesn't suffer.

There are people that may not agree with my thoughts on possibilities to do away with raccoons in the future so it's all subjective.
