So...What to do? Ventilation vs Draft-free Coop. What gives?

I can't be the only newer member who keeps reading "well-ventilated but not drafty" and thinks, "huh."
No, you aren't. There are lots of hand drawn pictures of dubious artistic merit explaining the difference. I may have made one or two myself. There are some better ones floating around so I usually let others post explaing the difference.

and 2 1/2' is one of those "thumb rules". Its a good starting point, but a lot (like so much else) depends on the rest of the system and the natural air movements createdby your roof design

I found Repecka’s illustrations very helpful! :D

And I do grasp the difference between ventilation and drafts. (I live in a hundred-year-old house without much insulation.) Our drafts come from everywhere!

It’s trying to figure out when one (ventilation) becomes the other (drafts) that gets hairy.

Thanks for your reply!

We got all the way down to 10°F here.

All eleven were huddled against each other on the roost. No issues. No fights, either.
