Hello, my hen ( 8 months old ) was looking a little sad yesterday, sleepy, her tail down and feathers puffed up. I noticed a soft shell sticking out her vent so gave her a warm bath and removed it, followed by another one. Then once dried put her back in the coop and she stood up and laid another one. Today she still seems a little out of sorts and I haven't noticed her eating. Any suggestions of anything else to try, I have given her some cider vinegar, garlic and crushed shells to help any infections and lack in calcium. Maybe she is just resting to recoup? Any advice greatly received 🙏

Hello! I would dose her with calcium citrate. You can get it at any wal Mart or pharmacy. It's a combination of calcium and magnesium which helps the hen absorb it all.

Dose twice a day until she has firm shells.

OK, thank you I have done that today and kept my egg shells and ground them up for the flock. She is much better today and behaving normally, and layed a regular egg.
