I would use it today. Then I would get generic calcium citrate with D3, and it can be used for up to 7 days, 300-600 mg. Here is a generic one:

Mine has zinc and magnesium along with calcium citrate and D3.

What are you feeding, including treats?

I do not have much control over the feed, they are getting layer feed and scratch & peck, I am trying to change it so they only get layer. The oyster shell is coming tommorow.

Layer feed contains calcium but she may need more.

If that calcium is all you have go ahead and use it. We usually recommend calcium citrate with only D3 extra, but yours would be okay for now.

Get some calcium into her. Calcium citrate +D3. Citracal or its generic equivalent is good but a Tums will do if that's all you have on hand. Just pop it in her beak, she can swallow it no problem. Do you have oyster shell available all the time?

I know the tablets look big, but a chicken can easily swallow a whole mouse. There is a little hole at the back of their throat but that is the wind pipe, food does not go down that. They swallow food along the side of the beak and the pill is no big deal.

You can always break a tablet in two, such as when Tums are used. But with a normal tablet, most chickens can swallow that. They have been known to swallow a mouse, so a tablet would not be too large. A little scrambled egg, peanut butter, or cream cheese might hide a crushed tablet.
