We've had an older Amberlink hen die a few weeks ago. It wasn't sudden and we thought it was because of age. However, now we have another hen ( 6year old Australorp) slowing down as well. She's mostly just standing around with her tail down.
My daughter seems to think it's food related since it happened after a change of food and the Australorp stopped laying eggs shortly after the feed brand change. The other 6 younger birds after being perfectly fine have now stopped eating so much food even though they ate a lot over the last week. But still very interested in greens.
For reference they're on Dumor 16% protein layer feed. Anyone else have any issues with that particular food?
How can I figure out what's wrong with the hen? I can't stand it when there's something going on and I don't know what the cause is or how to help. There are no vets that do birds around here either.
