Hi all! My Indian runner duck has something wrong with her eye. It's tearing up and she won't keep it open. Is there a safe eye solution I can use to flush her eye? Not sure what's up, but will keep an eye on it. The other eye is completely fine btw

I’ve had a couple chickens like that before and I just left it alone and waited and now it fine, that’s what I would do. If you don’t want to do that then separate it and keep an eye on it.

first, use saline and gently rinse. then make sure she always has clean water deep enough to dunk her head into it. ducks keep their eyes and their nares clean by dunking heads in water.
watch it carefully if you think it’s infected or if it gets bubbly go buy TERRAMYCIN antibiotic ointment. They sell it online. I got some from Amazon. I also saw it in tractor supply store in the dog medicine section. You can use that in her eyes if they don’t get better right away after the saline.
just the regular kind of saline solution that Pharmacy sell for people who wear contact lenses

by the way, do you have Drake’s? She may be injured from over mating? The suggested recommended ratio is at least four female ducks for every one Drake, but even when you have that right sometime a particular female will get overmated if she’s the favorite … if that is the problem, separate her from the drakes. Or perhaps separate the drakes from all the girls.. I don’t know what your ratio is.?

Thank you! I'll do that :)

Hi! Thank you, but I have all girls! :)

that’s so nice. i have had only girls for several years and occasionally tried adding a drake but always ended up rehoming them. But I would like to have a drake so right now I have one 3 month old drake who is hatched out here by one of my chickens lol and so far so good he seems to be learning his manners from the old lady ducks.
