Hi and welcome to BYC and congrats on your new hobby. I’ll let others chime in with breed suggestions, though asking on your state thread may help.

Hello and welcome to BYC! :frow Glad you joined.
If you have warm humid weather, you will want a very well ventilated coop. Lots of windows backed with 1/2" hardware cloth for cross breezes and vents up high, between the rafters under the eaves, again, backed with 1/2" HC.
Leghorns would do well.

Hello, and welcome! Glad that you joined us! Set up your coop before you get your chick's or chicken's. Chick's grow pretty fast. As far as choosing the right chicken breed that you should get, are you looking for egg's, meat, or one that is dual-purpose for meat and egg's?

I'm wanting yo have 5-6 chickens. 2-3 for eggs, 2 for meat, and maybe a rooster. :)
