Sooo...what eats tadpoles???

I've got Chinese geese, but they won't touch them!

I've scooped some out, but the chickens only peck at them. They are in my swimming pool and I've got the guy coming out to fix the electric on it tomorrow, and, while I do NOT want pollywogs in my pool, I hate for them to just die needlessly.

I guess I thought the geese would eat them, since they are in the water, but they are only plant eaters? I'm assuming ducks eat them? I almost went out and bought some ducks today just to eat the tadpoles.

we thought our enormous Muscovy drake, Mr Duck, was just bein' friendly with a big ol' frog down at the pond one day. they were just sittin' there havin' a talk about nuthin' in particular.

but nope.

the next day i went down there and apparently Mr. Duck had had enough of that frog's sassy mouth. he was eatin' him.

i nearly barfed on the spot and couldnt eat breakfast.

so i went and got another lady duck and now i have about 20 ducklings just about to hatch. take that you loud frog peeper!

My ducks will not eat tadpoles.. Goldfish love them!! Try getting the cheap 2.00 a dozen ones at the pet shop...
I usually pick out the pretty white and red ones as well as those with black on them. I put them in the horse troughs and small duck pond.. Keeps the mosquito population under control..
After all the tadpoles are gone you can net the goldfish and give them away on Craigslist!

Ducks eat goldfish. I guess you could get goldfish...and then when the gold fish eat all the tadpoles, get ducks to eat the gold fish!

Get some crayfish then wait 'til they fatten up then ya can cook 'em

Apparently, that IS the only answer! ROFL! Too bad I've got it in my head I will NEVER have ducks.

LOL! I bet I'll have some by next year, but I am trying to get my chickens, geese, and guineas established!

I'll just have to run the pollywogs through the filter and kill them all.

That is, if we can get the power going.

Some of you might remember my earlier post this year about us having to SUE the people we were buying the house from in order to make them honor the contract, then they "couldn't make it to closing" because they were trying to pull all the appliances out of the house...

Apparently they removed the wires to the pool. They cut them so we couldn't use the pool.

They are crazy. Sorry, got off topic. Can I do that on my own thread???

SEND the tadpoles to ME!

I've been looking for some tadpoles to grow into frogs, but we don't live close enough to any bodies of water, I'm kinda hoping some wild frogs/toads will find the ducks pond this summer and breed in it!

Really? You have weird birds. Chickens are total carnivores and should love defenseless polywogs. Don't feed your birds for a day and offer only tadpoles. They should eat them then.
