so there are actually a lot of different types of lawyers lol. A normal lawyer is normally considered a divorce attorney or criminal defense attorney, im sure you can guess what they do. A Patent lawyer basically helps people who make new inventions patent their objects so the idea can't be stolen. Criminal defense attorneys and divorce attorneys go to trial and such often, whereas patent lawyers its more paperwork and negotiation. the difference for me is a 'normal' lawyer gets paid $80,000 to $200,000 a year, and patent lawyers make anywhere from $200,000 a year to $350,000
