I walked quickly into the ring. I spotted Holly standing next to her big bay mare, Diva. I walked up to her and poked her shoulder.

Note your use of the word "I". That will be important in my next bit for re-writing.
Who is this Holly? Is she your best friend? Your sister? Your pet squirrel?

“Hey.” Holly kept her eyes on the arena. There were 2.9 jumps set up in lines and diagonals with Christmas decorations next to them and under them. There were candy canes, trees, and bows around them as well.

Is this your line or Holly's? If it is yours, I personally would add it to the top paragraph. If it is Holly's, I would specifically state so.
