Split tail

I was about to start breeding marans and I was just informed that my rooster has split tail. How do you breed that out? I have young pullets that are laying yet that have narrow tails, would that help out? Some people think everyone can just cull every little thing, but I can’t. He’s my main rooster and I’m just now getting started and don’t really have any options. So how do you breed split tail out?

I’ve also accidentally pulled about 6 feathers out of his tail about 2 months ago.... not sure if those were the middle ones and they are growing back or not. Or what

I took the pictures yesterday. I accidentally pulled the feathers out about 2 months ago.

Maybe he'll regrow them during the winter moult?

My FBCM cockerel is finally getting in his rooster feathers.

He could. It kind of looks like they are growing in again, but they are still short so it’s hard to tell. I’m not planning on getting rid of him anytime soon, even though split tail is a DQ for the SOP. I’m hoping if it is a split tail, I can eventually breed it out by using narrow tailed pullets. I guess it wont hurt to try it
move asked multiple people how to breed it out and they won’t answer me or they tell me to just”cull him”. I can’t do that.He’s a really good rooster, very nice and I don’t have any other marans that are nearly as good as he is with every other aspect (besides his tail).
