Hello everyone! I posted a poll asking what breed standard you would like to see, and Ameraucana won this round! So here you go, the standard for the Ameraucana.
Note: I cannot be too specific about the details of the standard for Ameraucanas due to copyright. I will be doing a general overview as to not infringe. The following description is from the ABA 2020 SOP. Ameraucana Bantam
Origin: South America
Year Approved: 1984
Egg Color: Blue - this is mandatory for the breed
Weight:
- Cock - 30 oz
- Cockerel - 26 oz
- Hen - 26 oz
- Pullet - 24 oz
Comb: Pea
Face: Nearly hidden by muffs
Wattles: Small, preferably absent
Muffs and Beard: Full, well-rounded, medium length
Back: Medium length
Tail: Medium length, well spread, carried at a 40 degree angle above horizontal for female, 45 degree angle for male
Wings: Fairly prominent, carried above the hock joint
Breast: Full for females, prominent for males
Body and Stern: Full but trim, fluff well-tucked up
Legs and Toes: Medium length, four toes.
Defects: Oversized and/or lopped comb - low wing carriage - extreme gameness in type - small muffs, indicating heterozygous condition - underdeveloped or thin breast, thighs or body.
Disqualifications: Presence of ear tufts in muffs - lack of muffs in beard - presence of tassel or crest - rumplessness
