that sounds like my blueberry bushes!

I have strawberries. Did you know that squirrels love GREEN strawberries? They don't even give the deer a chance.

The deer will eat blueberry bushes to the ground, stem and all!

The squirrels ate the roots off a potted pecan I had before I could plant it.

Maybe I need to take up hunting???

The squirrels always got mine. Then the Japanese Beetles killed the trees. Ate the leaves to skeletons, two years in a row. That's partly why I have such a vendetta against them.

Oh, yeah. I have a fence around mine. It's only 4' high, but the enclosure is small enough that the deer don't think they can land safely in there, so they don't jump in.

I've caged them and the strawberries have netting. It is a hassle come picking time. The squirrels try to dig under. It's a battle.
Last fall we planted 2 figs and caged them too. I am a glutton for punishment.

I like me some leg of lamb, don't get me wrong, but yeah, cabrito is damned good.
