Stormcrow's Hobby Farm

Put some seed down today in part of the pasture I tilled. Wheat, Oats, Triticale, Turnip, Red Clover, LOFA, annual rye, bermuda, fescue, two other clovers.

Hopefully, some of it sprouts before the birds eat it all.

No, I need to order some.

Its a warm season grass. Waiting for the night time temps to average 60s, not 40s and 50s. Will likely overseed it with some others, see what takes. Maybe lablab, boss, and more sorgum?

Getting some rain - enough that I'm losing satelite internet, which takes a rate aroun 2"/hour. Weatherman predicted 1/2" all day. I'm betting we got more than that while coffeee brewed this AM.

No pictures, no bandwidth. Also, not going out in this.

But the seed should be well watered, and hopefully, starting to sprout by next weekend. One last cool bit tommorow night, mid thirties, then another warming trend, looks like.

I planted peas this weekend. We've had enough rain to wet the ground with more expected. Today will be an inside day.
I like planting with a coming rain. It helps a lot.

Something to be said about digging in the dirt. It does good things to my attitude.

Glad you got to do some planting
Hopefully we'll see sprouts soon!

Wet. Today was the first not wet, not cold, day. Grocery shopping, tractor, seeds, watering, prunings, planted two peaches, worked on the outside shed a bit, tore down the old grow out pen to make room for the (eventual) greenhouse.

Just pulled out the brooder box and heat plate - hopefully have some duck hatchlings this weekend. Of the 12 set, two have already been removed. SHOULD have candled a second time, once again did not. My duck incubations are consistently terrible. Here's hoping for a change of fortunes.
