Stormcrow's Hobby Farm

People get shot in their own yard and property every year by people that aren't supposed to be hunting there
I have almost shot people on my property that weren't supposed to be there when I was shooting at coyotes. Fortunately I seen them just before I pulled the trigger.

Sad to say as soon as I came out w/ the long gun, the goats disappeared. Only a few locations w.ith safe shooting lanes on my property. 98% of it is not from here, not in that direction, or both.

So, bunnies and chickens so far.
and the chickens are now running from me, too...

Yes they know
Can you put a halter on and tie up before you get the gun?

Yes they are too smart (the goats)

Yes, I can generally grab two Roos before they figure out what's up. Sometimes, a third by the processing station when they come for treats. After that, not even with a cast net [yes, I've tried]

and I'd sooner chain Fenris than get a halter on one of my goats.

Consequence of not handling any of the animals much.

I've read of people who make a small pen and provide feed inside it each day or at some other regular interval. When they need to catch animals, they close the door while the animals eat.

Given that chickens fly and goats go over or through almost anything, it would probably need a roof as well as sides and a door to work for you. Maybe something like a covered dog kennel?

Done for the day. The last rooster was so well put together I couldn't disrobe him with arm strength and my weight alone. Had to use a fillet knife to remove the skin - not just to connections at breast and thigh, but also the wings, the entire leg, the back...

and next time, I need a taller table. Lower back is reminding me my 20s were more than 20 years ago.

I can relate to this. When I worked in QC/shipping, even a few inches additional height on the table made a huge difference.

20s... ah, youth. 30s... ah, almost youth. 40s... still young-ish.

My mom said, "After 40, it's patch, patch, patch." You were so right, mom. About that, and so many other things...
