I see saw horses... what are you building? How's the green house coming along?
Got another row of CMUs up for the greenhouse, sawhorses were out while I assembled the picnic table and made some adjustments to the bunny hutch. Mostly cleaning up and rearranging.

Have someone coming in to erect a pole barn over the RV. Our temporary sail cloths worked - but are only good for a year or so. Doing something more permanent. But that means we have to be ready to move the RV so they can work. That's "a process".

Even though it's the first time I've had the trap out and I handled it and the bait with gloved hands, nothing went in. The trap sat in the garden shed, untouched, since last November.

I did manage to catch a small raccoon with canned salmon. Not on the first night, but on the second. I think she/he was young and inexperienced in what box traps are.

What can I wash the trap with to clean off any "beware, this is a trap" scent?

I tried canned salmon on a smaller trap behind the house. Need to catch whatever is getting in the wall. Bigger than a mouse, smaller than a raccoon, so I'm guessing it's a possum...? Again, no takers when the bait was in the trap, but something ate it when it was on the ground.
My predator varmints don't seem concerned about human scent, if it's in the wall I think it's not concerned about human scent .
Probably wise to box traps. Try covering top and sides

I have caught opossum in dog proof traps with corn or dry cat food. But a friend caught a cat with the cat food and ended up dispatching. So I don't use dry cat food in the dog proof anymore. I use dry or wet cat food in the box.

Maybe put a bit of bait on the ground (little bit) and then more bait in the trap? That would give the creature a taste (yum!) and then encourage it to go in for more.

(Might not work, but I doubt it will cause any real problems if it fails.)

I can imagine!

Is the pole barn for shade or more protection from the elements?

How's the house coming?

BYC needs a roving band of helpers. Hands on help to clean up, clear, build, plant, harvest, etc. Then sit around a campfire and sing songs. :gig

Rethinking that - end of January would be a much more comfortable time for hard work outdoors for us thin-blooded folks. :)

I think we would wilt into puddles on the ground down there any time in the next five months or so. :(
