Stress Aid over use..

I am posting this question for a friend...

She is using stress aid a lot, even when birds are doing perfectly fine.
Can you use too much and overdose your birds?
What are the side effects of constant use of stress aid?

Thanks for any feed back.

I use stress aid myself, but only on a five day stretch and no more.. and I only use for chicks in the first 2 weeks after receiving them.

I'm no expert, but from what I know this is how it works:
Stress-aid is a mix of vitamins and electrolytes and if given in the proper amount likely will do no harm no matter how long it is offered. Its like when a person takes vitamins. However, for animals that are otherwise healthy and eating a proper diet it is unnecessary and may even cause an over-dose of certain vitamins.
If you are worried about your chicks getting proper vitamins after the first couple weeks, you can try switching from stress-aid to just offering vitamin rich vegetables and fruits. Dandelion is plentiful in many areas and as long as it hasn't been sprayed with any chemicals you can pick it in your yard and toss it to your birds as a treat.

Hope this helps.

I have a question and not sure where to post it? I have been treating a sick hen for over a week and a half now, she is weak, her comb is flipped over and the tips turn black and cold. I have induced vonitting for what i thoughr was sour crop as well as having given her stress aid, apple cider vineger with the mother and kiefer. She perks up one day and is back weak the next! Hardly seen any poop but now today i noticed poop and its white, mucusy and has bits of bright yellow in it! Black head possibly? She has had no appite for days!!

There are a variety of things it could be. It sounds like some sort of bacterial infection to me. Keep her warm, separate her from the rest of the flock if possible, and offer her vitamin/mineral water and easy to digest foods like scrambled eggs. Keep her clean. You can try offering antibiotics (safe for chickens) and see if that helps, but without knowing the type of bacterial infection you won't really know if this will help.

I hope she gets better soon!
