Hey all. So I’ve got two lavender orpingtons that I’m pretty stumped on. I know one is definitely a hen, but here’s my dilemma.

The other one I was certain was a roo, because of the tiny tail and overall body posture. However they’re 7 and a half weeks old now and the combs are pretty much the exact same size. And they’re very pale too. I have buffs who are all hens and the same age, but their combs are tiny bit bigger and just ever so slightly colored versus pale.

Also the saddle and hackle feathers. I really don’t see any. I’ve picked up the suspect one and gone through the feathers, and none of them are actually pointed. And they’re not even growing out like my boys in the past of other breeds have by this age.

So what do you say, do I just have a scrawny looking lavender runt? The feathers have always been messier but they’re not actually pointed. Let me know what you think! I’ve got a pic of the two of them together, one of the hen, and one of the suspect.
