I tried to do this last year and ended up making what looked like a fuzzy go-go dress for a dog

Well it took a while this time but i finally figured it out and in the last week i have made 2 different sweater coats for Lucy, the newest rescue girl. She LOVES being warm, and for some odd reason she itches a lot less when she's warmer, so they're also helping her skin heal up!

#1 - Velcro's across the chest & tummy - the Vet Tech really liked this one this morning

Love your sweaters!!!!!!Someone crochet a sweater for my shih tzu similar to #2,only with a narrower belly band, very important cause he is a boy.

Ooh how neat! Do you do single or doube crotchet? how hard/ easy is that shape to do?
I learned to crochet about a year ago and have already made like 6 blankets, lol. I'd like to try it!
Good job too, very pretty

#1 is with Double Crochet & Half Double crochet.
#2 is all in Half Double Crochet... The neck band was the "hardest" part but it was still pretty easy. I found the pattern for the neck band online and then created the rest from there. The belly band was done after i finished the "blanket" part too because i totally spaced it while i was making the blanket

The shape was super easy to do, I started it off the neck band and just worked around it until it got to the right size (on the sides and length) for Lucy. then, because i forgot, I worked the belly band from one side of the blanket and attached it to the other. I also made that just long enough to fit her tummy. I had to try it on a couple times but it was really simple to do

Here's the link to where I got the neck band pattern:

Yes! Yes! Yes! Love it. I have 2 alpacas... I can't wait to use their fleece for my knitting needs...but I so want to learn to crochet! I have 3 small dogs that could use something like this in the winter.
