I'm pretty central here in OK, we have brutal summers and some nasty winters, though it seems to be hit and miss with both.

I'll be sure to vent higher up for the winters and lower for the summers.

Winter vents don't have to be high, at all. You can have fresh air exchange, right at chicken level. As long as the coop is deep enough, with no pathway for the air to blast through, it can be done. And I think the chickens like it better. They have the view, and fresh air, what's not to like?
