I have read this elsewhere as well. Langshan also once laid a very dark brown egg.
 
Wow... The purple eggs are alright, I get them all the time, it just means it's got an extra layer of bacterial protection. But those DARK brown ones are stunning! So... Glossy... And... So… beautiful… I want some!
