hello! i got too eager and posted my question first before introducing myself. i’m a first time chicken mom of a rhode island red hen. she lives indoors with me since i live in the woods, so my neighbors have told me horror stories of their chickens and ducks being attacked by the wildlife. she has a bad leg which is untreatable according to the vet, but thankfully she’s not in pain. i keep her inside to keep her safe since she physically cannot defend herself, and try to bring her outside on warmer days. she’s completely spoiled, i spend many hours with her daily holding her and petting her. i joke that she’s pretty much a cat at this point. i truly love her with all my heart and will do everything to ensure she has the greatest life possible. she’s only five months old, and she has my whole heart. she is so sweet, attempting to groom me when i hold her and being gentle when it comes to checking out my freckles on my arms and hands. she also adores my boyfriend, who also spoils her with toys and attention. she was very sick when she was young, we didn’t think she would make it past a few days, but with her strength and my perseverance, she’s five months old now! everyday with my baby girl is a blessing. she’s my best friend, my world, my whole heart. all my friends enjoy visiting her and playing with her, and she adores the attention, purring when we hold her and getting fussy when i walk away. she loves to fly around, hop around exploring the living space, and lay on my lap and fall asleep listening to my heartbeat. i could go on and on for days about how perfect she is, so i’ll leave it there. thank you to anyone who read this, i hope you all have a wonderful day!
