I have a 5-month-old buff orpington hen who prolapse her vent about 5 days ago. I'm assuming she was attempting to lay one of her first eggs. I cleaned her up the day we saw it, cut back her feathers where her poop/discharge had been building up, and gently pushed back in her vent.
On day 3, I also gave her a saltwater bath, during which I pushed her vent in several times.
It always pops back out within minutes. Without paying a vet for sutures, is she probably stuck in this prolapsed state?
Thank you for any advice and opinions!

Prolapse is a symptom of an obstruction. The prolapse occurs while straining to push out the obstruction. The prolapse will not stay in until the obstruction is expelled. Giving a calcium tablet will help stimulate contractions to push out the obstruction.
