Sweetened condensed milk or evaporated milk for goat milk replacement recipe

It has to do with the individual kid more than anything. Human error may occasionally be the cause of problems, but there are some kids that simply cannot tolerate any replacer. They may scour or, worse, they may just blow up and die with no warning.

Yes, my friend tried a goat replacer, the kid got scours bad...this is when she turned to regular milk....worked great....I know it sound very weird...and wayyy too easy...but...that’s the way it’s been working for our farming.

I'm reading a lot of reports of it causing scour (sp?) or causing kids to die.
Not sure how much of human error plays into that but I'd rather not chance it.

Evaporated milk has less percentage water so more nutrition ounce for ounce and less likely to cause scours. Kids can be benefited by adding probiotics to their food also.

Yes, I have the colostrum replacer..but, I am on BYH...and many experienced goat owners have said regular milk is just fine...I was really shocked at this response , and we went over it lik three time,plus there were many others on the the thread...they all agreed..regul milk..once the kids are old enough to not need colostrum is fine for them

I am surprised that this came as a surprise to you. When I was raising goats and also had cows my calves got goat milk and my baby kids got cow milk. Both the kids and the calves thrived. The reason the kids got the cow milk is because I was on a CAE prevention protocol. CAE is spread my feeding raw goat milk. Cows don't get or transmit CAE. I could feed the kids the raw cow milk and the raw goat milk could not hurt the calves. In order to safely feed the goat milk to the kids I had to pasteurize the milk.

It is just a generic term to differentiate the smaller varieties of goats from the full sized ones.
