Hello, all!

Posting for a friend. After watching a lightweight Ameraucana land roughly off of a roost one morning my friend noticed her lying down a lot and holding up one foot, then noticed her lil feet were swollen, bilaterally but one slightly more than the other. I dropped by and checked and I'm honestly not sure what this could be other than soft tissue damage with swelling. Raised areas are hot to the touch and soft/fluid-filled, no sign of bumblefoot. I feel she is a touch underweight compared to other Ameraucanas. I saw a response by @Eggcessive offering ideas for swollen feet and wound love to learn! For now I wrapped them like I do for bumblefoot for support and she seems to be walking better.

Thanks for any advice!

It could be mycoplasma synovitis (a type of bacterial arthritis, but it also could be a fracture or bad sprain. If an xray at the vet is possible, they would know. Splinting in that case might help. I will be offline for much of today.
Roger that, thank you so much for your input! ☺️

Here is an article to read with pictures about mycoplasma synovitis (MS:)

Let us know how she gets along.
My flock is MS positive but I've never seen their feet swell, just respiratory symptoms, so I'm glad to be aware of this. Friend's flock is closed and pristine and I'm hoping it stays that way for him. 🙏 I passed all the info along to my friend and I appreciate it myself, thank you so much!

I sure will update when we have more unfo, but for now he reports that he she looked great and he took off the bandage and thought the swelling was a bit reduced but after being without the support for a few hours she was not wanting to walk again so he's planning to rewrap her feet. Hopefully support is all she needs but I'll definitely keep in touch with him about how she's doing.
