Switching Roosters for breeding

So this would be a fertile egg correct?
I see a small dot within a larger circle.

Tough time focusing on it.

Yes, it is, you did good tho.
I find photoshopping, or other photo editing software, can help adjust lighting...not everyone has that option tho. Sometimes changing to B&W can really make things pop.
@aart what about this?
To me I see dots on both fertile and non fertile eggs. Is the following correct? It looks like the fertile egg that you show has a small dot within a larger circle. The non fertile egg looks like one solid dot.

Every yolk has a dot, called the blastodisc...when it's fertilized it's called the blasotderm.

Since the hens body is about incubating temperature and the egg takes about a full day to go through her internal egg making factory some development takes place. That development basically stops once the egg is laid until it is incubated but it's enough to form the ring.

When you crack the egg the dot may be out of sight underneath. I very gently and carefully use a spoon to turn the egg yolk over so I can see it. Sometimes that works, sometimes I burst the yolk.

As a heads up there's a free photoshop replacement that I know a lot of professionals use called GIMP. It's an open-source program and it has good lighting adjustments so if people need a free program to use to bring out the lights in a picture and highlight the blastoderm in an egg this is a good one.

When I lost my pirated full version of PS, due to OS update.....bought the $100 PS Elements for graphics work...but there are many photo editing programs that can at least do lighting adjustments.
