Swollen cat jaw

Not chicken related sorry! Today I noticed that my cat, Teddy, has a swollen jaw and couldent eat or drink. I already checked for broken bones and his teeth look fine. Here's a picture:

As you can tell, it's the bottom of his jaw. I don't want to take him to the vet buy any ideas would would be helpful!
 
Unfortunately it could be an abcessed tooth root, even if the teeth look good there could be a infection above the gum line. If he was still eating j would say give it a bit, but cats need to eat or they can get really ill. You will need to have a radiograph to diagnosis or possibly a needle aspirate could work .
