I started a thread a few days ago and ChickensAreSweet has been very helpful so far helping me figure out my chicken's situation.

Here is the original post:

https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/...-green-runny-poop-now-fly-strike-graphic-pics

The gist of it is I think my hen has worms and now she has a fly strike growing below her vent...early stages. She just pooped and I found THIS in it. Definitely was not on the towel before she pooped so it came from inside her.

Tapeworm? Roundworm? Maggot? Undigested dried mealworm? It is hollow and pliable.

PLEASE HELP. If you want to consolidate and post on the original thread, be my guest. ANY help is appreciated.

Thanks Chickensaresweet. I read the same thing, but it is segmented, has a very tiny point at one end, and is completely hollow. About the size of a roundworm from what I've read (graphite in pencil). I thought I also found a single segment that seems more typical of a tape but I couldn't tell for sure. everything is covered in bile.

thanks so much for staying up late with me :) poor girl, now that I know more about what's bothering her i feel awful...and still not sure shell pull through.

You are welcome!

I hope she feels better soon!!!

I will be brave and post my other guess...totally a guess and probably not right, but could it be intestinal lining?

I gave her wazine yesterday since she'd never been wormed before, with the idea of following up with valbazen in 7-10 days. now im wondering if i can just go ahead and give her the valbazen, thought shes so weak i probably should wait.

Chickens, I can see that as a possibility, but it is a tube with one closed pointed end, not flat like a piece of paper or whatnot?

right, sifting through info here last night i decided that ivermectin was worthless and valbazen was the way to go. im still trying to sort out the other drugs...but have the info i need for now.

she is very weak. ive started her on durmycin 10, and she got a dose of wazine on saturday. is any of that reason to wait to give her the valbazen?

the other thing thats new and concerns me is that she drools a little when she eats...I have some diced fresh tomato in there from the garden with crumbled feed and when she eats a bite or two and goes in for more she drools out whatever she just consumed. Her crop is very full, did not go down overnight as it should and she drinks a lot of water....what is going on??

Possibly an Impacted Crop? Or Sour Crop? She may not be able to get the Valbezan down, and you will need to be careful so as not to aspirate her.

Need to get her eating and drinking successfully.

Search for the above two and see if you can determine if either fits.
