I decided to cover most of the roof over the run with a tarp. Run is 10wide X 20 long
They had one big enough on sale so I grabbed it.
Now I am having 2nd thoughts on the color..........it is Silver/Grey.
I didn't want the Blue because I just don't like the way it looks.

Does the color really matter? I WAS hoping to find a White one but that is not possible.
And I don't think you can spray paint the tarp and have it stick for long.

The color shouldn't matter as long as its a sturdy tarp.

If you wanted to paint it white to keep the run cooler, you could see if the “Solarflex” material they note in post #97 of the “Pinterest coop” thread (begun in 2016, but new updates recently) would work. What they have in the pictures is white. Might work fine and adhere ok, just check the label.

I think that as long as its a cover, not a tent, meaning the sides are somewhat open, then you wouldn't have anything to worry about.

It'll be fine...probably the next best to white.

I agree I think it will be fine. It might sag in the middle but you could fix a post there to hold it up. My concern would be more if you were to get rain.

My run is based on a 10x20 Costco Garage frame, without the cover. Covers don't last more than a month or two here. It's completely covered top to bottom in wire with a three foot dig-skirt around it, and a tarp covering the half near the coop. I don't think color matters at all, other than that the silver, if it's reflective, might scare off raptors nicely.

Just make sure it's securely anchored. I get a lot of wind. Instead of anchoring the tarp to the frame, I anchored it with rope to cement blocks all down both sides of the run. That way, it's simple to remove and replace it in a month or so when the weather destroys it, and when the wind picks up the strain isn't placed on the run frame. Otherwise, that tarp could abruptly turn into a parachute, and wind + parachute = disaster. Having mine anchored all down the length of the sides helps to keep it from 'belling' up in the middle, so the wind mostly gets funneled through and out the other side instead of picking it up.

I have netting over my pens.

What ever is on sale.

This is what is up for the time being, 2 blue small tarps and a sun shade. The red sun shade is for over the Koi pond :)

I forgot to say that the run IS a Carport with out the cover. It will be Cinder Block tied down once I get this up. I had used it as a carport before so I am VERY well aware about tying things down ;)

Sides will be open and the top/middle already has a support so that is good. I plan on running ropes from corner to corner on each pipe section ( X type ) to help hold out the rain droop.

While I was out at the store I saw a Dark Green Industrial one

This will cover the full top and I can drape it lower on one side along the fence. White fence really reflects the sun !

I am thinking the Green will look a bit better, cosmetically.
This will be tied on so that if there is a hurricane here I can take it down fast. and will not have it up in the Winter
