Tarp color for Run roof, does it matter?

I decided to cover most of the roof over the run with a tarp. Run is 10wide X 20 long
They had one big enough on sale so I grabbed it.
Now I am having 2nd thoughts on the color..........it is Silver/Grey.
I didn't want the Blue because I just don't like the way it looks.

Does the color really matter? I WAS hoping to find a White one but that is not possible.
And I don't think you can spray paint the tarp and have it stick for long.

I use tarps year around. I started using tarps to keep the chickens' run and food dry. I purchased heavy duty white tarps for the summer and dark tarps for the winter on the Internet. You can choose color and size for reasonable prices. I use metal clamps to secure them on the roof. I let the white tarp hang down about half way on the side which allows plenty of shade inside the run. (We had a heat index of 196 one day last week.) Hope you find what you need. Good Hunting!

Much better. Still not finished. I have to put wall blocks around and tie down better. Also got netting on the Left side but need it on the end on the right.

I took too much time taking out some old hay from behind the coop-shed that needed to go. Still need to finish that but at least the Tarp is on and tied down enough :)

boy an I sore, the wall blocks are 80# each and the Hay was wet

Looked Gross but I think it worked out well, insulation wise. I didn't have any snow get behind it and it lasted till about a month ago I could see it 'smushing'. Hens were warm all Winter.
The sh*tty neighbors on the other side moved out so I don't have to worry about them getting to the shed now.

I am hoping to have a farm by next Winter (cross your fingers for me) but if not, I will see about Foam blocks or something like that. There is a guy on CL that has these big square poly blocks, wonder where he got them.

OR, when I get the hay out I may see about just pushing the shed up against the fence corner. The snow will fall into the neighbors yard (dont' think they will care in the back corner). I will have to put up those Pigeon spikes on those sides to keep squirrels and cats out just in case.

It is really gross taking it out and my pitch fork broke, it was 30 years old.
I got 3-4 bales out, about 10 more to go :he And the Chicken tunnel is in the way of the wheel barrel. AND I no longer have my truck, but the Chevy Bolt hatch is working out well.
So that would be the down side but Hey, it was free and worked. It is free to drop off at the compost dump.

Ok that was longer then I thought :frow

Would I do it again ? YES, but not against the fence just because it is hard to get out.

Curious whether it stained the fence.....or there's any mice families in there.
You might not know until you get it all out.

So far only some bugs.
I didn't notice any staining yet, but you are correct that I won't know till it's all out.

I am hoping for a week of dry weather to help with it not being so heavy lol

Oh, I forgot to seal the outside bottom with caulk before I did the hay. I did caulk inside a little. Worked ok, only a tiny amount of leakage.

If anyone does the shed make sure to get a good caulk (water proof) around the outter bottom where the floor meets.

We used a really thick brown one on our old run without any problems(it was the largest heaviest duty tarp I could find at the time) . I'm using another brown one this time for the chicks just until we get some metal roof panels put up. The tarp was terrible when it would rain or snow with the last flock (we don't get much snow, but it was a pain to clear off).

We don't really have any shade trees, unless you count the ones at the far back of the yard(one pine tree, one apple tree, and one unknown tree). :(

Update, good. In the sun it is HOT today 80 so far at 11am. Standing while working in the back yard it is hot. Under the tarp you wouldn't know it was hot out.

I am happy and will see how it is at the end of the day
