Teacher applicants,,,, your duties lol!

I'm sorry to disagree with you, but that is not honesty, it's a lack of discipline and control. I would never allow my son to speak to a teacher like that, they don't have to "give a crap" they do have to show respect, behave, do their work, and be polite. And yes, I DEMAND it of my students, that student's parents and I would be meeting today and the student would not be allowed back in my classroom until he/she could control themselves. I've required parents to come into my classroom and sit with their student until they do learn to behave. That is something they should be taught at home.

This teacher agrees.

Do you remember - Back in the day when you were taught at home behaviors for different places - you act one way at home
one way at grandma's another at church, school and another at a store etc..

We had clothes for each place, even shoes, we spoke a certain level of ENGLISH at each place not Slang that went with the situation.

Our parents taught us these things at home. We also had the manners to go with each place - So when we became working adults our employers were not trying to fill gaps -

I tell my students that no matter how they want to explain it
My age group 35 to 50 is now in the supervisory level positions. The HR folks that do the hiring so NO if you have a neck tat I will not put you at the front desk - If you come to the interview and have a bra as an outter garment and whale tail I will not hire you

I heard a lady loose a job at Buffalo Childrens Hospital for saying Visting Hours BE over at 8 : 14.00 an hour ft and benefits:
down the drain
Unless you are Nelle place say the TH sound Nelle got rich off Norf and Souf but to the rest of us it is still North and South
it will never be Birfday it is still Birthday -

and You don't give a crap- I used 20 minutes in class one night because a student raised his hand to ask if he could take a Pi@@
before the test---this was a 22 year old man/kid

I had to explain that in my world it is a swear word - crap to a teacher he is in 4th grade - FU by 9th grade - booted from school
by 11th - in one of my programs by 20 trying to fix the holes cuz he didn't learn them young -- or worse prison and the welfare game
where he will try to fudge on the rules-

If i only had a dime for everytime I have heard about an exception to this and yes I know they exsist - but exceptions do not change the basic rules -- because for the few exceptions we have a whole prisons full of folks who were not exceptions.
The whole does not smoke dope - although I owe my teaching job to the lady with the bigger better degree who thought she could -
I was negative she was positive ---
My job at the nursing home I am also drug tested regualrly - the kids I send to get tested it is a hold my breath cuz believe it or not drug users lie ROFL...
there are also bad teachers which is why people want to fight what the elementary teachers say - I went through with the son I call my evil son - they had a path it wasn't his - still isn't he is exception I watch in my class for those kids his lesson to me ..
I hope the kid who doesn't give a crap gets the teacher who does !

Go drug testing!! I wish our district was tested randomly.

The student who said I don't give a crap?? We lost a teacher in El Paso because he had finally been pushed to the brink by the high school kids he taught and went on a rant in class. He should have controlled himself better, but I can empathize with him too. He was recorded by a kid with a cell phone, that shouldn't have been in class anyway or turned on, but it was, and the teacher was recorded. His language was bad, but not as bad as the students were using because you could hear that on the recording as well, but it was ignored.

Manners people, teach them at home and then your kids don't get in trouble at school for lack of them, same thing with respect, teach them at home, and they don't get in trouble for the lack of it at school.

It is the parents job to teach THEIR children manners, and etc.,...I agree with you 100% on that, and MANY parents don't have "time" for it. I have a son in school and because of these certain children who like to disrupt class and show their bad behavior (which is the fault of the parents) my son has trouble learning ANYTHING.
Also there is some teachers there for just whatever,..you know the ones who has been basically burned out. My son had a math teacher like that, I more or less taught him his math because the teacher wouldn't take time to explain nothing. He would just bark out what to do and then he would usually leave the classroom. This was ELEMEMTARY school. He is in a different school now and he is doing great! 3.5 Average! The teachers are wonderful and they have strict policy on behaviour.
It does upset me though that I go through so much to raise my kids with manners and good morals and then you put them in public school and it is a constant battle to keep them straight. As a society I believe we need to look at our public school systems and try to improve it or do away with it. Just my opinion though!

Yes but like you stated, it's the other students who were raised poorly upsetting the class, don't punish the school for the ignorant parents. I know teachers who should have left teaching decades ago, but they belong to the union....

Though few and far between, I saw teachers during my 40 years of teaching who were not ignorant, but plain, outright stupid. With no exaggeration I can say that the students in their room knew and had more academic skills than they did. Don't ask me how they ever got through college without cheating or something outrageous. They were moved from one school to the next; should've been FIRED for incompetency. Like I said though, teachers like that are few and far between, but they're out there, something like there are rotten apples in every barrel.

I know there are rotten apples in every barrel,, and if you look at it this way, there is one teacher per classroom, and usually well over 20 students,, a lot more chances of the bad apples being in the little chairs. But that is not what this about, and this thread is not here to attack teachers but try and get a light hearted look at what we have to put up with since it seems the last few months on here have been Attack a Teacher month.

I don't think nobody here is blaming the teachers as a "group" per say. I think the whole system needs reworked. There is too much policy in the system. There is sooooo many good teachers out there and they care and do a great job, but there is also the ones who don't care. Most of us parents do know what teachers have to put up with and myself I feel sorry for you all. It is not a proffession I would take up! I am glad there is teachers out there that is passionate about their jobs like you, without you and others like you, my kid and many others would be lost. So thank you! You are appreciated!

i feel bad for todays teachers..it seems that they are left in charge of dealing with parents not teaching their children basic civility and social graces. most of my kids friends are allowed to curse around their parents and tell them how its going to be, i cant believe it. i dont even allow mine to say crap or butt.

if they ever talked to their teacher like that, they would be in some serious trouble.
