Hi,

OK, now here we go...

I am new to this site and live in Middle TN with my wife and three kids. I am just making my way around the site when I saw this index regarding TN BYC folks so I thought I would introduce myself. We live in Hampshire which is west of Columbia and east of Mt.Pleasant.

Our most reason chicken news: We've made our decision on the layout for our new coop and run for our chickens, so we're excited about getting some construction going. To save money, we're going to partition off part of our barn instead of making another building for our chickens.

We really like Ameraucanas and Black Austrolorps. I'm not looking to buy or sell right now, but am interested in helping anyone and learning more about chickens via this forum.

Well, wanted to introduce myself and if I can be of assistance, let me know. I'll keep my eyes and ears out for you all.

Take care,

CJ

Hello, I'm over in the Bristol area on the VA border. I am going to the chickenstock in Hayesville, NC on the 24th and would be happy to offer a ride to anyone who might want to go.

I'm also looking for a Silver Laced Wyandotte pullet or two if anyone knows where I can find one locally or nearby.

Thanks!

Thanks harrell, I do go to the trade day in morristown about every month. Got a friend that sells down there about every month also. Your right it is mostly chickens but I have seen a few pheasant and peacocks down there.

I didn't know about the flea market on 25E, thats a little far from me but not to far if i can find some good birds. I will probably check it out sometime, any particular day that they are open (saturday or sunday) I know I usually go the jonesboro flea market on 11E and they are only open on sunday. They have some decent birds once in a while but getting them at a good price is the hard part there.

Thanks for the info.

The one on 25E is open on Saturdays and Sundays. Saturdays tend to be a little busier (more stuff) than Sundays. A friend of mine sells plants and vegetables there during the growing season. It's a lot like First Monday, 90% chickens but a few others scattered around. I saw a ringneck pheasant there last weekend a there are peafowl there fairly often. There are usually a few guineas and ducks scattered through as well.

Word of warning as I have been both to flea market and the First Monday autcion place. There are many sick birds brought in. Last year when at flea market there were only 2 sellers that had decent chickens. Most I walked far away from so not to bring home something to mine. I used to live in Morristown and these are on each side of the town.
