Outside in a shaded area should be fine with a huddle box. I'm real sure I have lost 6 chicks to possums here though this year. So if put out at under 4-6 weeks you will need that security. Also I have performed a roadkill census and spotted 2 raccoons as well that seems to be a new RGV development. Both were near the resacas north of Los Fresnos. :fl

Additionally, plan on visits from havalina, jaguarundi, coyote, and potentially ocelots our typical RGV varmits. You can at least shoot or trap the coyote all year long no hunting permit is required.

In the last week I have seen an indigo snake, a possum, nutria, raccoons and stray cats and dogs. The struggle is real. I am right on the reseca so lots of stuff here for the water and things that live on the water. We found a baby raccoon on my driveway and took it to a rescue.

The run is secure from predators...as long as I don't forget to close the door between it and the chicken yard.

So [up here on the NW side of DFW] the tropical storm/depression has really sucked the humidity outta DFW today.... The last week or so have had a stabilized 50-85+% humidity; not including the rainy days. Well today the humidity dropped to 19% a little while ago as the cold front rolled across. It's up to 21% now but, at 95°F that's totally comfy for me with the 15-20mph winds. And the chicks are not panting at all today!

The brown hazy horizon all around us is another story entirely. My word is it brown and foggy/dusty Haze!

My grass is already crackling like wet deep frozen snow again:( There is a possibility that front "could" make it here Thursday, but this late in the season I am suspicious.
I would love your humidity right now:

I'm in city limits so I don't know about shooting anything....here's a visitor to my back deck:

My reaction to that is something like this: https://www.flemingtraps.com/duke-dog-proof-racoon-trap.html

Then a 22 or 410 to make it safe to reset my trap. I am not hardened against the smarts of a raccoon they would figure out my simple latches fast.

All of my latches are doubled up. My coop is like an onion with multiple layers of protection. :). There were actually 3 of them. Mom and two babies. They stopped coming around when I stopped filling the bird feeders for a while.

Ok so I don't want to malign Don Johnson Jeep but they have really messed up my Jeep. I gave it to them under warranty repair, they have caused more problems than they have fixed. However when your 4x4 becomes a 4x2 a customer should have the right to complain. Additionally, 3 months to fix a simple transmission issue........ I don't know if I should use my Google local guide status vs. Jeep Corporate complaint process to make them do right.
