Texas

How have everyone's girls been laying? This warm weather has convinced my girls that Spring is here. Got an egg from everyone for the first time in 2025.
So far only my Dominique has started laying, in the past couple weeks. She did randomly lay some eggs over winter.
Last egg I got besides from her was in mid October.

EDIT: clarified my statement
Alot, alot. I have alot of chickens and most seam to be laying. My flock tends to lay through our winters tho. Coastal Texas here for reference.

Chickens are Spitzhaubens, Phoenix Ameraucana and assorted bantams.

It's a crazy season for sure, I have some pheasants that layed eggs on February 2....that is the earliest I have every had eggs from my birds, it's usually April before they start laying. Talking with other breeders of pheasants and they are experiencing the same odd behavior.

My ladies didn't mess with it, but I didn't give them access to it for a couple days after it was put down (but definitely not safe for them)

Figures as much😅 well this is definitely useful, fire ants are the devil and they keep finding me here in Florida!!! So I'll try this on them! I wish grits worked, but these Heathens honestly don't care and keep trucking, so poison it is! Thank you❤️
Sorry that it has you quoted twice, I'm not sure how I did that!!!

If anyone is in my area I'll have a project flock for sale. Two pure Crevecoeur, a rooster and a hen. Eight Ameraucana, one lavender rooster, three lavender hens and four black hens. Two F1 crested EE.

I have two many irons in the fire at this time. Will still be doing this project but with Silver or blue Ameraucana and on a smaller scale with just my Spitzhaubens.
