Actually I would be happier if the people I described would move to the states you listed and educated them self to hard work and became an asset to society rather than a burden, which is what I was taught right here in rural Oregon. If I needed to be "happy".

I would have a hard time logging in those states. The treehuggers probably would like to see me move though.

Of course the economy is not as bad as the Depression - YET. What happens in the highly probable event of hyperinflation? Or what if the U.S. government can no longer provide its handouts because it has no money? The U.S. can't pay off the debt; that much is obvious. Hyperinflation, bankruptcy, or rapidly deteriorating relations with China. What a choice.

The riots in England will be a freaking cakewalk in comparison.

if the government goes broke and cannot send out welfare checks and subsidise houseing. Then the FECAL matter will hit the fan. That is when mass riots and a de pression hit. i have enough bullets, beans, and bandaids to last awhile. But I would need neighbors and friends to help protect the natural resources of the farm. Which could then feed them too. So it would need to be a community effort.

I live in a town where most of the people are employed or looking for work. the town above and below me. Well most of them are gettng up at noon and have no plan on becomeing employed.

That's another thing that people should care more about. I am all for living independently and self-sufficiently but one should also establish a bond of community especially during hard times.

I have family in the Philippines still. My grandfather on my dad's side lives on their farm still and they have running water but it comes from a well. The bathroom is nothing fancy. There is an outdoors kitchen and the small cooking stove/oven runs on propane. However my family on my mother's side has to wash clothes by hand (so no 'fancy' machine from the '30s or from today), they cook using a small propane stove (that looks like a large version of a Coleman) and they have VERY COLD (!) showers all the time. If you want a hot shower you have to heat up some water. One of my nephews does not have too many toys; he plays outside or he has a couple action figures. They live like in the '30s too; they have less than most here in the US but I enjoyed the simpler life there when I visited. Community for them, too, is very valuable.

When the US Dollar no longer becomes the worlds back-up currency, thats when we'll be hit very hard. Especially with riots.

well, i have no gun, but i do have a bow, so hunting won't be too bad, plus there are tons of red tailed hawks, swainsons hawks, prarie falcons, northern harriers, and coopers hawks around here which i would be able to catch and use for falconry
