I am a first time chicken mommy to 11 pullets and 1 cockerel 6 mo.
I am addicted to BYC, and read a lot. I also spend a lot of time watching and observing the chickens in their 40x40 fenced yard. I witnessed a pullet give a warning cluck and all of them raced to their secure run! They then all were looking up. I started looking up and their was nothing in the area, then I seen it. A jet flying lower than usual under the clouds and dust ( we have Saharan dust in atmosphere ). I thought- is that what you seen? The jet was high enough not to make noise. After awhile a few came back out and were scratching ect when my RIR again gave a cluck and rushed to the side wall of run and skirted her way to the door and into the run. Looked up- another jet flying over!! Good to know their instincts are on point, but we are in the distant flight path for planes headed to Houston. Just thought it was funny and interesting
