The Moonshiner's Leghorns

Yeah you wouldn’t want to part with them if you enjoy them. I have talked to my husband about getting rid of the Games, but he loves them and would regret getting rid of them once they were gone. So they remain.
I'm always trying to get my family to get rid of the white Ameraucana bantams, no one seems to care about them anyway...

I bet they are so cute though! I love bantams. We got rid of my OEGBs because my kid kinda got burned out on them and they didn’t really serve a purpose. I would love some White Leghorn bantams, but I had better not press my luck. 😆

Also the rooster seems to sense this so he always attacks me specifically...
My Mille Fleur D’Uccle roosters were little snots. I would hold them and love on them but they were little peckers (literally). My husband seemed way too satisfied when we sold them all.

There hasn’t been a rooster I’m the least bit afraid of since a big old Rhode Island Red from my childhood. Some of the gamecocks can have ill tempers, especially when its hot or during the molt. Some are just mean. The last rooster that came at me to flog me I grabbed him in mid air and scared 10 years off his life. We had a conversation that involved words like butcher and instant pot. He has been the most perfect gentleman ever since. I think he tells the others about me, “you better watch out for that one.” ;)

Breeding for vigor is definitely important. And if birds from a line fail to thrive due to lack of vigor and illness resistance, it is very frustrating. I could tell a huge difference in the vigor of the Red Leghorns I ordered from MM hatchery and the Browns and Whites. The Browns and Whites were very robust and strong, while the Reds were weak. Even if I would have mananged to end up with a pair, outcrossing was the only hope the line has at any vigor as chicks whatsoever. I had to baby the two cockerels I ended up with for a long time until they were strong enough to put outdoors.
Same issue I get with Sebrights... but when you out cross you end up with all sorts of issues with feathering and getting back to some reasonable birds is a long way down the track

Yeah I'm not in love with the silkies I have so I'm going to sell them. Just can't get into them.

D'Anvers are aggressive
But the Dominique D'Anver cross roosters are the worst I've ever had, combining the flying abilities and aggression of a d'Anver with the energy and agility of a Dominique. They will never give up or stop attacking you. They are little demons. They know exactly what are their sharpest parts of them and they will ensure you feel them as often as possible.
