I haven't raised a litter of pups in more than ten years, but I am considering breeding her. Her sire fathered 56 pups. Of that number 16 have made their championship, 4 have multiple wins, and another 20 or more have places. That's an impressive producing record. She runs more like her sire than any other of his get that I have seen. Not flashy, but slow , deliberate, dependable with strong desire. Maybe - she won't be back in heat until next September as she only comes in heat once a year. She's retired.

A shame indeed. She is from a litter of 4. 3 have made their championship, and the fourth sits in a kennel in NY state. Her sire was euthanized at 6 years old because of an aggressive prostate cancer - that was a true loss. I have a couple of males in mind, but see nothing that really moves me. I have a young male out of one of her half sisters that is doing well - 2 wins, 3 seconds, and 2 thirds in minimal trials. He is a possibility depending upon how he matures.Do you have a male in mind?
It would be a shame to lose those genetics.
Way back in the beginning I had a litter of 3 pups. All 3 made their championship and won major events. Repeated the mating and raised 5 pups. We were newly married and short on money. I sold all of them for the $ to campaign the mother and pups. Not a one of the second litter was given a chance and did nothing at field trials. Those were the only pups I have ever sold. Any pups after that were for me or gifted to someone I knew would give them a chance.God cut us same cloth breed only to make a better dog.
Glad she made it outGood afternoon Old Folks. Sister in law is here with us now after saying goodbye to her house in FL right where the landfall is expected.
