The Old Folks Home

Our closest possibility of development is to the north. So far, there is nothing close enough for us to see, but that could change at any time. We own about 200', so a bit of a buffer. But not much, compared to the other directions.

Should the farmer ever sell his acreage on both side of the road and it was developed, the character of this place would change. But living out here is NOT for everyone. Especially in the winter when the county doesn't get around to plowing the road right away.

And now that we're both retired and rarely have to go somewhere, I don't care about the plowing. A day or two? Eh, I'll reschedule my chiropractor appointment, and we have enough food on hand to sit tight for awhile.

I'm lucky in a way here. Not much ground flat enough for any new large scale building. Only one new house here on this road and it was not built on farm land. Looks like someone had a large lot and sold a parcel off of it.

After last year's abnormally mild winter and the subsequent huge numbers of chipmunks/squirrels/mice/ticks (though we didn't have trouble with ticks), I am hoping we get a hard enough winter to knock those numbers down.

35 miles west of us had record (9.25") snowfall on November 29th, and we have less than an inch on the ground. All due to it being lake effect snow.

Another item of note: we have kept our furnace off, still. This is the latest we've done that. Yay for the wood stove!

Speaking of lake effect snow, my family in Erie, PA have like 3+ feet of snow and Buffalo, NY has the same amount or more and it’s STILL SNOWING!
