The Old Folks Home

Good morning OFs, Coffee is hot - this morning it's Guatamalan - smooth and mild. I splurged last time I bought coffee. Incidentally, on the news this AM there was a story about coffee bean shortages so the price of coffee is going up -- again. Not good news for those of us who have it running through our veins. You've been warned. Ask for it as a Christmas gift from loved ones, maybe?
@Nomadicus, I sure wish you could get some sleep. Reading your posts makes me tired for you.
Have a good day everyone.
DH and I both quit coffee cold turkey. We both discovered that regular coffee was causing us to have the jitters and our Blood Pressures to go up and while I can tolerate decaf, he hates it so I just decided to quit with him. We have about 7 cannisters of both types of coffee on hand though just incase one of us falls off the wagon.

Our weather here has gone crazy. It was in the 50s for two days then the bottom dropped out of the thermometer. It was down to 10 last night and didn't get above 17 yesterday for the high. Right now it's 29 but the sun is out so not too bad except they are calling for ice tonight which means I was out taking down my nets over the run and hammering through ice in the water holders.

The wood stove is kept cranking. Temps are supposed to be in the 40s through Christmas. No white Christmas this year but I'll settle for a nice walk in the woods with my sweetie husband anyway.

I hate winter temperatures. Love snow but hate the cold...yeah yeah yeah, I know can't have one without the other but that's the way I feel about it.

Don't feel bad about being tech challenged. We are finally bonding with the new TV. Did get bad news that we probably won't be getting the new internet till Spring. Once the ground freezes they won't be able to run the underground fiber optic cable to the house until it thaws so let's see. Thaw in March that means March and April = mud and spring rains which means more mud. Dry out.........maybe June?

Sigh. We watched old Leave it to Beavers yesterday. Such a simpler way of life back then and even better (or worse depending on how you look at it) is that we can all remember it. Makes me a little sad.

Hubby had some intestinal distress yesterday, so we didn't go out to dinner with friends. Oh well. Saved $40-50, didn't eat a bunch of fat and sugar.

He's feeling better.

Back to having a fire in the wood stove. We don't have one when the outside temp is much under 20° as the basement and mudroom get too cold. 17° now, and mid 20s today, and a high of 48° (!) on Monday. Rollercoaster temps here, that's for sure.
We have rain and a wind advisory today.

According to my email, our new phones are at the Verizon store. They said they'd text me when they're in, but haven't texted. I called, got shunted to voice mail, and have yet to hear back, 25 minutes later. I think that means they are very busy. When I've been in there, they have 2 people and often what they're doing with a customer is time/labor intensive. Like setting up a new phone, or two.

If we don't go today, it'll wait until Monday.

I call February Muduary. Seems like we have a major thaw sometime in early Feb. and everything goes down hill from there, especially if we have had a big snow and the ground underneath has frozen after rain or ice storms.

When that happens it doesn't dry out until well into April.

And that is why God made muck boots.;)
