The Old Folks Home

Pulling weeds by hand makes my elbows hurt. It's the pinching, grasping, pulling that does it, I think. Which stinks, because hand weeding is, for me, the best way to get ALL the weeds, get them out of the dirt and into the bucket.

Plus, when they're right next to the plants you want to keep, you can't hoe them out. You gotta get your fingers down in there.
Yes, hand weeding is the best…and most therapeutic…except for the hands! :old

Try doing it while thinking carefully about how you are doing it.

As in... if you pull in a different angle is that less strain? Or, pinch the weed, but then turn your hand to the side before you pull, so the weeds are pressing against the top of your fingers... which would mean you would need less firm of a pinch...

Anyway... I suggest mindful experiments with subtle shifting of how you do it.

About 10 years back I did some OT for my arthritis. The lady showed me how to keep doing everything I was doing... but just a little different... to shift pressure etc.

HUGE improvement!!
