Ahem... We think the Welshies are considerably larger and more developed than last year's Khakis at 2 weeks old. Could also be selective memory, we'll see.

The outside water bowl is deep on one end and shallow on the other.

We're switching them now from starter feed (23% protein) to lower protein content (16% ish).

You should try Runner duxlings! - They look so tiny and fragile, especially when they get soaked.

Super busy here in West Virginia: Spring broke out last week's Thursday and since then here it is looking like a garden center:

Planning to sell as many nursery plants as possible to bump up the budget…

How is your sweet little duckling? 🐥
It is doing fine but the next one seems to be struggling to hatch. I ended up putting a safety hole in it but it took so long as the egg is very hard. I had it out for a while trying to do that so I don't know if it will make it or not. It was supposed to hatch out tomorrow but I don't know with the egg being so strong if it can make it or not. I may end up having to help it out. I have done that before but I am not looking forward to it. I will wait until after tomorrow before I intervene. How are your eggs doing????

My four duck eggs are on day 21 and they all look great, my goose sitting on six goose eggs, but only 5 look good. I took one away today because it looked bad and it smelled bad. Don’t want any explosions.
I waited half the day for her to come out to eat and drink so I could sneak into her little house to check her eggs she is on day 18

Good he was at least little. He will be easy on the girls, lol.
So you may think…
Mr. Mini Limpy, last year's dragon baby is my smallest drake and he is able to run the larger ducks to exhaustion before using them as pool-noodles. My heaviest drake, Mr. Boots is frequently outran by the much lighter ducks. Also Mr. Mini Limpy is able to follow the hens to the second floor with ease…

Hopefully all of the big ones are not drakes. My big ducks mostly turned out to be drakes but maybe yours will not be, hopefully.

Well I read that as they grow, the bill colors switch opposite, ie. the ladies get dark bills and darker legs, and the gents lighter ones with a dark bean, and legs that are more of a light yellow or orange.

Going by this we're probably having 5 ladies, 7 gents... But in a week or so the ladies should start quacking so we'll see.
