Thanks for posting a picture of the comparison. I was thinking about doing RR at the end of Summer. I think I'll stick to CX.

The trade off with CX and RR is that the RR take longer to reach butchering weight, about 12 weeks for cockerels, and 1-2 weeks longer for pullets. However, they are amenable to free ranging which lowers feed cost and mess.

The photo is of 2 chickens the same age, so the RR would be smaller, because it takes longer to reach the proper weight. I am butchering CX this weekend and next, because I have RR coming the 13th. I got them so I wouldn't have to butcher in the heat of summer because they take longer to reach butchering weight, and so that I could benefit from the summer foliage/insects that they will eat.

If I was going to get birds at the end of summer, I would get CX too.
