Thoughts on my homemade brooder? Pic

I made this brooder from just a few dollars at home depot.

Please tell me your thoughts and about how many coturnix do you think I can fit in here?


It is 33" x 33".
Wire is 5" off the ground with a 33" x 33" dog crate plastic under it.
Bottom is 1/4" mesh.
Sides are 15" above the 1/4" mesh.
Top closes tightly and it is 1/2" mesh.

Please tell me your thoughts.

Nice looking brooder box! Mine is approximately the same height and sq footage, just a rectangle instead of square, and 12 coturnix chicks fit in it quite nicely for the first 2 to 2.5 weeks. (Moved them to their big cage at just shy if 3 weeks old, but kept a 40 watt red bulb above them and towels wrapped around the sides to keep them warm and avoid drafts until 4 weeks old).
