Ticked off at a nursery rhyme

HA! Very creative group, those 18th century cops. Kinda makes the theme "bad boys, bad boys, whatcha gonna do when they come for you" pale in comparison.

My mom taught me that prayer when I was very small. I used to say it every nite before I went to bed. It didnt scare me.

You know whats even more scarier(sp) than the nursery ryhmes? Its some of the things that are on tv thats aimed at our kids. (not to mention the ones that not aimed at them.) They are kids shows, that I dont think kids should be exposed to,

A greek myth about a baby (zeus?) hidden in tree so his infantcide bent father couldn't eat him. as I remember it his mother fed daddy a rock in baby blanket? Been a few years.

This has brought up some very disturbing memories of my kindergarten class play in Oakwood, Illinois....circa 1967ish (no old jokes, please).

....I was Peter Piper's wife...!!!!

Yes, it has left me horribly scarred (scared? I think both) to say the least....

Peter Peter pumpkin eater,
Had a wife and couldn't keep her.
He put her in a pumpkin shell
And there he kept her very well.

SEE ????? WE TEACH KIDS THAT ???????

What's really messed up is "Grimm's Complete Fairytales" get your hands on a copy of that! Cinderella's sisters cut off their toes and heels to get that stupid shoe to fit! The real stories as they were originally written are MESSED UP!

What about Hansel and Gretel?

That always scared me that he had the witch touch a nasty bone to see if he was fattening up. Was it a human bone? I mean... eww.. kidnapping kids to eat them, and then pushing the witch into the fire! WOW!

yeah that 1 was pretty bad.the good thing is kids dont realize what is happening when they hear nursery rhymes and tales.its just another story to them.its not until later in life if ever that they usually realize what the stories r saying
